This Urn is unique as it is handmade by one of Ireland's top Ceramicists. This Pet Urn is made in an Irish Studio by a renowned artisan and each piece is individual as not mass-produced in a factory which makes it a very special Pet Urn that is also an Art piece. The sleeping dog (‘Madra’ in Gaelic) design was inspired by the ancient legend of Cú Chulainn Ireland’s most famous warrior. Protector of the home and loyal companion the Celtic dog/Irish wolfhound features throughout Irish history most famously immortalized in the book of ‘Kells’ 800 AD. A Celtic collar knot on this Pet urn represents how the dog and their companion are all bound together for eternity. ►The process The Urn is thrown by hand, air dried, then fired and left to cool and the glazes are mixed by our Artisan Ciaran who individually hand pours over each Urn to create different color tones and textures. Then it is fired again to complete this art piece. Ciaran has created the Celtic dog symbol from historical influences The Urn is called An Madra Codlata or The Sleeping Dog. Each Irish Pet Urn is hand-thrown, hand-glazed in Ireland by a National award-winning artisan, and packaged in an Irish made wooden box lined with hessian. ►Color of Ceramic Dog Urns The colors are earthy so they represent the timeless beauty found in the nature of Ireland and its seas. Our artisan mixes his own glazes and names each. -Slieve Foy Green, a mysterious deep green found in the moss and heather across the Mourne and Cooley mountains that surround his home. -Cooley Summer yellow of barley fields, gorse, and heather-covered mountains. -Lough Blue, a rich ultramarine echoing the depths of Carlingford Lough. ►Presentation This Ceramic Dog Urn is delivered in a beautiful Urn presentation box lined with Irish traditional hessian. ►Ciarán- Artist, Ceramicist, designer Ciarán, an Irish language speaker has a love of Irish history and design. He ties his Irish heritage creations with his own glazes for his Celtic Cremation Urns. A range of locally inspired colors fired in his self-made kiln. Ciarán studied and lectured in Art and Design as well as being a highly regarded Ceramicist for the last 30 years. He lives with his family on the banks of the historical Carlingford Lough. Carlingford, one of the most beautiful places in Ireland. The Cooley Mountains on one side and ’ the mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea’ on the other. Each of his Celtic Cremation Urns represents our history, our people, and the colors found on land and sea. As Ciarán says, “they are each an expression of Ireland”. Ciarán walked the coast, fields, and mountains looking for the colors he wanted to inspire his glazes. He then went about mixing and testing the glazes to match his imagination. According to Ciarán you need to be as much a Chemist as a Ceramicist to get it just right. He spent months and months perfecting the colors that don’t truly show themselves until after firing. The combination of form, design, and the glaze has made his unique pieces much sought after. His work has been commissioned and presented to many dignitaries including An Taoiseach -Our Leader -The Irish Prime Minister and also the President of Ireland.

Radek – Land and Sea- Cremation Urn Collection

He seeks his Celtic Urn inspiration from living with his family near the Fingal shoreline, bordered between an abundant sea and the most fertile land in Ireland. He has developed exception Cremation Urns. His Irish land and Sea Cremation Urn collection is appreciated by people across the globe for the design, the colors, the glazing technique, and the individuality of each and every Urn. Creating a collection that represents our Island nation with hand-worked glazes that are inspired by the Irish coastline.

He has a unique style and his heart is invested in the art of each unique creation.

To create his Irish land and Sea Cremation Urn collection designs he tried many prototypes and tweaking them until he had unique creations that both represented our Celtic past and would honor the individual and family while avoiding the typical shamrock and Leprechaun for more authentic symbolism. The glazes created many chalenges as the colors needed to reflect what is found in our landscape and sea. The glazing on each Urn is carefully hand-poured and therefore each Urn has a unique glaze pattern not found in any other Urn. A winner of numerous design awards and more recently Irelands’ premier design ‘Showcase’ event and won the best ceramic design award nationally and as his works have been presented to our current president Michael D. Higgins they are in demand.
