An Solas ómra – The Amber light – Irish Cremation Urn

An Solas ómra ( In the Irish Language) - The Amber light - Irish Cremation Urn

►Delivery: Ireland 1 day, UK 2-3 days, USA 5-7 days (2 -3 days if express courier) ►Created by Eleanor- Artist, Ceramicist, designer An Urn for the person who lived a life of love and warmth, where their life and core presence created a warmth of affection among their friends and family who flourished and grew as they were backed by that constant love. The Amber represents that light of love and warmth. This is a very special commission piece that was created over a couple of weeks layering texture and glaze to create a truly vibrant and unique Urn. One of a kind, impossible to make the same a second time. We try and have all our Urns in stock but some may need 3 or 4 weeks to create if recently sold. Just ask! The Urn is top-loaded via a funnel into the core of the piece with ample capacity for the cremated remains of an adult man or woman. The capacity of this Urn is 196 cubic inches. While funeral directors use a rule of thumb of 1 cubic inch per pound of body weight in reality the urn size is more about height. This is because due to the cremation process no soft tissue remains, just bone, this Urn has been used for adult males of 6'4' The Artisan: Eleanor is a ceramic artist working from her studio in the courtyard of an ancient country castle estate in County Wicklow. She uses a variety of clays for her work, from grogged architectural stoneware clays for her large sculptural pieces to fine porcelain for more delicate work. There is great freedom in that and it allows her to respond to the world around her in so many different ways. Eleanor has exhibited nationally and internationally and has work in many public and private collections in Ireland and abroad, including New Taipei City Yingge Ceramic Museum, Taiwan (2014,2016), IMMA (Irish Museum of Modern Art) (2013), The Museum of Decorative Arts, Dublin (2010, 2006), The National Porcelain Museum, Riga Latvia (2009), Ceramic Museum, Jingdzehn, China (2007), and the OPW (Office of Public Works) Dublin (2006). Her work has been included in group exhibitions such as Unlimited Potential Ceramic Figures, Yingge (Taipei 2019), Echoes, Castletown House (2018), Taiwan Ceramics Biennale (Taipei 2016), Parallax Art Fair, London (2014); A Touch of Pottery, Taiwan, (2014), Transform, Farmleigh, Phoenix Park, Dublin (2011); The 178th RHA Annual Exhibition, Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin (2008) and Side by Side, The Hunt Museum, Limerick (2007).
