Gael Cremation Urn – Blue

The Gael is a tribute to the enduring spirit of the Irish people. Named after the Gaels, whose language, traditions and culture have shaped Ireland for over a thousand years, this handcrafted urn celebrates a heritage defined by resilience, belonging and an unbreakable connection to the land.

Its rich blue glaze reflects the waters that surround and define Ireland from the crashing waves of the Atlantic to the tranquil lakes and winding rivers that have inspired generations. The subtle variations in tone capture the ever-changing Irish sky, where moments of brilliant blue emerge between passing clouds, reminding us that hope often follows sorrow.

Hand-thrown and individually glazed by an Irish ceramic artist, every Gael Urn is unique. Its elegant, timeless form is complemented by two traditional side handles, recalling the craftsmanship of ancient Irish pottery while offering a refined contemporary aesthetic. The deep lustrous finish brings a quiet sense of dignity, making it a fitting tribute to a life well lived.

The Gael Urn is especially meaningful for those who carried Ireland in their hearts—whether they lived on its shores or were part of the global Irish diaspora. It speaks of home, family, tradition and the stories passed from one generation to the next.

Created with care and respect, the Gael offers a beautiful and lasting place of remembrance, honouring not only the life of a loved one but the enduring legacy of Irish heritage itself.

A range of locally inspired colors fired in his self-made kiln. Ciarán studied and lectured in Art and Design as well as being a highly regarded Ceramicist for the last 30 years. He lives with his family on the banks of the historical Carlingford Lough. Image below is some detailing on the Bean na heireann Irish Harp Urn
Carlingford, one of the most beautiful places in Ireland. The Cooley Mountains on one side and ’ the mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea’ on the other. Each of his Celtic Cremation Urns represents our history, our people and the colors found on land and sea. As Ciarán says, “they are each an expression of Ireland”. Ciarán walked the coast, fields, and mountains looking for the colors he wanted to inspire his glazes. He then went about mixing and testing the glazes to match his imagination. According to Ciarán you need to be as much a Chemist as a Ceramicist to get it just right. He spent months and months perfecting the colors that don’t truly show themselves until after firing. The combination of form, design, and the glaze has made his unique pieces much sought after. His work has been commissioned and presented to many dignitaries including An Taoiseach -Our Leader -The Irish Prime Minister and also the President of Ireland.
