A typical tree planting day, blending meaningful impact with team connection:

Warm Welcome at Dunsany Castle: Arrive to tea, coffee, and a short introduction.
Estate Introduction: Learn about the history of Dunsany Castle and our ongoing rewilding journey.
Guided Estate Walk: Explore key landmarks, including the Abbey (featured in Braveheart) and an ancient woodland.
Tree Planting Training: Receive guidance on how to plant and care for native Irish trees.
Plant Memorial Trees - Semi Mature
Team Activity: Each participant plants approximately 20 trees, contributing to woodland restoration.

Irish Trees – Our Team

Irish Trees is led by Bob Hamilton and John Doran, supported by a growing team bringing together expertise in ecology, zoology, botany and nature science, alongside graduate specialists, interns and researchers.

Working across The Lakeside Woodland near Naul and within the remarkable rewilding landscape at Dunsany Estate, the team combines practical restoration on the ground with science, monitoring and a deep understanding of the landscapes we work within.

We don't just plant trees. We help restore the ecosystems around them — creating more space for nature to recover and thrive.
