Newgrange Urn-Lough Blue Glaze
If you are searching for an Urn that represents Ireland and being Irish, this collection
of Irish handcrafted Urns will make you proud.
The Newgrange Keepsake Urn design in Cooley Green Glaze was inspired by the Ancient Irish Celtic Tri spiral symbol
. This particular design is the interpretation of the Newgrange Triskele.
The Triskele gained popularity in its use within the Celtic culture from 500BC onwards and can be seen on the entrance stone to Newgrange
, a 5000-year-old Passage Tomb
famous for the Winter Solstice illumination.
There is no definite meaning behind the triskele, and symbolists believe it reflects many areas of culture from the time, the most popular being life-death-rebirth.
Triskeles evoke the Celtic interpretation of the three realms of material existence: earth, water, and sky (and all their interconnections). The symbol is also thought to represent the three worlds: spiritual, physical, and celestial.
Another theory suggests that the triskele represents reincarnation, as it consists of one continuous line that could be analogous to the unbroken movement of time. In this context, it represents the process of constantly moving forward from pre-birth, life, and death, each connected for eternity.
This Urn has a beautiful feel and texture and you will clearly see the hand-thrown nature of the piece.
An optional extra with the Urn is a handmade Oak plinth
- Created by an Irish National award-winning Wood turner
. There is also an option to arrange an engraving on request
. See sample image.
The colors of the Newgrange Cremation Urn are earthy so they represent the timeless beauty found in the nature of Ireland. The Glaze is Lough Blue to represent our Island nature.
Our artisan mixes his own glazes and calls this Cooley Summer yellow of barley fields, gorse and heather-covered mountains. Other similar style Urns available with different symbols and colors.
