Engraved Oak Urn Plinth

Description

A heavy and solid Oak Urn Plinth Base which has been hand-crafted in Ireland by a national award-winning Woodturner. Each piece is made individually and signed on the base, and individual because of this process and the unique grain in each piece of oak timber. The plinth is heavy (Nearly 2 pounds) but very smooth and the top has been carved out and rebated to take a circular Urn base. The recess has been lined with a soft green felt. The Oak Urn base has been oiled, then sanded, then lacquered, then sanded, then oiled again to give a satin touch. The base has also been finished with felt to ensure it does not scratch any surface. Engraving onto the oak base is also an option, just ask! The Oak Urn Plinth base can be Laser engraved by a professional Firm in Dublin (engraving normally adds 1 extra day to dispatch time). The Font is a Celtic font as seen in the sample image. Generally, it is the a) Person's name. b) A one-line sentiment. c) Year of birth and death. However, we are flexible and don't charge extra for the number of letters or words.

Design Influence

Many families spend a considerable amount of time, money, and thought in choosing the right Urn. Finding a plinth to host the Urn is even harder as so few options are available. Urns are beautiful in their own right but when set on an oak Urn plinth/ Urn stand, they take on a much grander position in the home. At Irish urns, we are often asked to personalize an Urn and while many families choose to do this (eg. leaving a personal note inside) others prefer to engrave the front of the Urn plinth/ Urn stand. The creator, Seamus, is arguably the best woodturner in Ireland and winner of numerous awards. Seamus also creates bespoke keepsakes Urns and full-size urns using his decades of experience and mastery of wood and has recently developed an Urn plinth/Urn Stand design that is in itself beautiful using dried Oak timber. Each cut individually, routed, sanded, and polished by his hands in his stone workshop in the Boyne Valley. The Plinth is simple in design to complement the Urn it hosts. Any Urn which is set on one of Seamus's Urn plinths/ Urn stands will be immediately enhanced. Seamus also contributes to our Urn collection and his Urns highlight the beauty of each piece of wood and the fine workmanship can be seen in the texture of each object taking long of hours of craftsmanship.

Color

The color of each piece is enhanced by oiling multiple times to really bring out the natural grain and depth of color. Our artisan carefully selects all his own wood as Seamus insists on taking responsibility for the quality of each piece from tree to its final home.
